Dixie dogs arrive at Dakin Humane Society

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - More Dixie dogs arrived in Springfield today from Montgomery County, Texas.

Before being put up for adoption, these dogs will be checked out by the Dakin Humane Society staff. Texas animal rescue volunteers work closely with Dakin.

Candy Lash of the Dakin Humane Society told 22News, “They go into the Montgomery County animal shelters and get dogs out of there and get them ready for transport. In Montgomery County as is true in many areas of the south, there is a huge over-population of animals and really nice adaptable dogs.”

Dozens of Dixie dogs that arrived in Springfield during the past few months have since been adopted.
