SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Doug Morse, the brother of Holyoke’s mayor, was ordered held on $100,000 bail during his arraignment Monday morning for his alleged role in a Longmeadow bank robbery.
Morse entered a not guilty plea during his appearance at Springfield District Court late Monday morning.
Longmeadow Police had a warrant out for Morse’s arrest on charges that he was the getaway driver during the March 24 robbery of the Berkshire Bank branch on Route 5.
The alleged robber, Desiree Ferreira, turned herself in to Longmeadow Police on April 2, and police had been on the lookout for Morse since then.
Holyoke Police Lt. Matthew Moriarty confirmed to 22News that Morse was arrested during a traffic stop on South Canal Street Saturday night.
Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse previously released statements that his brother "has struggled with addiction his entire adult life."
Doug Morse will be back in court on May 3.
