INDIAN ORCHARD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield police have arrested a 19 year-old woman who they say slashed another woman several times in the middle of an Indian Orchard street late Monday night.
Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News that Dyanasia Rivera of Springfield is being charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, as well as assault and battery in connection with the attack.
According to Delaney, around 11:30 P.M., the victim got off the bus near the intersection of Holly and Hampden Streets, and then noticed that there were two women following her. The victim turned around and glanced at the two, and then one of them (identified by the victim as Rivera) told her not to look at her because she was “having a bad day.”
It was then that Delaney says Rivera attacked, beating the victim in the middle of the street, and then stabbing her several times with an unknown weapon (possibly a razor or a pair of scissors).
The victim was taken to Baystate Medical Center to be treated for the cuts on her left eye, chest, neck, and back. Delaney says that the cuts were not deep, and the victim is expected to be okay.
The victim told police that she knew where Rivera lived, and officers went to 15 Hampden Street (where Rivera had been staying with her boyfriend), where she was arrested. Rivera’s primary address is listed as 17 Calhoun Street in the North End.
