HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - Mary Jane Mathers of Easthampton was the most excited person in the room when the Holyoke St Patrick's Parade Committee chose her to receive a prestigious award.

The parade committee picked Mary Jane as this year's Gallivan Award winner. The prize goes to a parade committee member who’s not from Holyoke. Someone who’s put in a lot of hours to make the annual parade process a success.

Mary Jane told 22News, There are so many other people who are more deserving than me. They worked so hard and I was just a small part of it.”

She will have a place of honor at the 62nd Holyoke St. Patrick's Parade March 17th, which this years just happens to fall on St. Patrick's Day.
