SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Educators gathered at Springfield College to discuss how to combat bullying at their schools.

Elizabeth Englander the director of the Massachusetts aggression reduction center spoke to the crowd tonight about how to pinpoint bullying in the classroom and online.

Terry Vecchio, the Associate Dean of Campus Life at Springfield College, told 22News, “Our students are more free with their information than you would see in my generation, so they're sharing more information, but they're also being more verbose with it, being more direct and it can be kind of mean."

The Director of the Educator Preparation & Licensure at Springfield College, Dr. Linda Davis-Delano, said, “If you're a parent or a teacher and you see inappropriate behavior because that's usually what it is a student rolling his or her eyes at another student or whatever that it should be you should make it clear to those individuals that it's inappropriate and its not ok."

These educators say it's not just older students who are online and using social media.

Some say kids have iPads in the first grade.
