SPRINGFIELD, Mass (WWP) - Springfield police say an elderly man has been hospitalized after being repeatedly stabbed by someone who broke into his home.

Springfield Police Lt. Alberto Ayala told 22News someone broke into the 73-year-old man's College Street home around nine o'clock Thursday night.  Lt. Ayala says the man was stabbed several times and a large sum of cash was taken from the home.

There was no information immediately available about the severity of the man's wounds.  No arrests have been made but Lt. Ayala did say police are following leads.
