(WWLP) - Connecting to your Facebook account is about to get a bit slower, but for a good reason.

Facebook is in the process of moving all of its users in North America to a type of internet connection that's not as fast, but more secure.  Users will soon start using an HTTPS connection, as opposed to the HTTP connection, which is less-secure.

Some Facebook users told 22News that they don't believe this will make things that much safer, because the user is really the one in control.

“I would rather keep it to where it's faster, and I can do what I have to do fast, and it's not going to waste my time,” Philipp Ruiz of Atlanta said, “because whatever you put on the Internet is going to be on the Internet.”

Users that are unhappy with the change can opt out.
