CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield area drivers are once again confronted by snow and ice flying off cars and trucks in front of us.
Massachusetts law requires drivers to clear off the snow and ice from their vehicles. But truck drivers told 22News that it's not always safe to climb up and clear the ice off the roofs of their rigs.
If often depends on how much cooperation they get from the company that they work for.
“If they have machinery as we have at our location, the scraper, you drive the trailer under it, It removes as much snow and ice as possible,” said Glenn Wheeler, a truck driver from Allentown, New Hampshire.
Raymond Lemon of Ware told 22News it isn’t just vehicles that drivers have to watch out for.
“The other day after the snowstorm, I had a big chunk of snow come off a sign off the highway; hit my windshield,” Lemon said.
On the roads Thursday, 22News found many cars throughout the Pioneer Valley whose owners still hadn't bothered to clear off all the ice and snow.
