SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield Police are still searching for the person who killed 24-year-old Pedro Osorio.
Osorio was the victim of the third homicide this year in the Six Corners neighborhood.
Jesus Osorio cried over the killing of his son, “They took my baby, they took my baby boy.” Pedro Osorio was shot and killed down the street from his home.
Neighbors tried to help Saturday night. Maria Rivera said, “I saw a body on the floor and I saw the girl on her knees crying out, so I come out and ask her what was going on and she told me he got shot, he got shot.”
Nishia Ingram saw as police and ambulances arrived, “It's so sad to look outside the window and see that poor man laying on the ground.”
Pedro Osorio’s father couldn't understand why someone would do such a violent thing. “That's being a coward, that's being a coward, that's not right. What they did to my son, that's not right cause now he's got two little kids, who's going to take care of those kids now?” said Jesus Osorio.
Jesus showed off pictures of his five-year-old granddaughter, two-year-old grandson and 24-year-old son.
It all happened on James Street, and it all looked too familiar. On the same street, three houses away another shooting occurred one year ago on February 6, 2010. That time 17-year-old Justin Gordon was shot dead.
And neighbors don't feel safe.
Maria Rivera told 22News, “I have a 9-year-old, my son was scared last night. I couldn't sleep last night thinking about in front of my house. Last year it was over there, but now in front of my house; yeah, it makes me worried.”
Nishia Ingram is hoping to move away, “I've been looking for an apartment to move to, but this town is just getting crazy with the killings and stuff. “
This shooting was the third homicide in Springfield this year.
No arrests have yet been made in Osorio's death.
