Building empty, no evacuation necessary

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Western New England University Campus Police Chief Adam Woodrow said a faulty sensor set off the alarm in the Center for Sciences and Pharmacy building, and that there was no ammonia leak.

WNEU spokesman Dave Stawasz told 22News the building was empty and no one was in any danger.

Springfield Fire Commissioner's aide Dennis Leger told 22News that firefighters ordered the pharmacy school building emptied after reports of an "odor of ammonia" late Friday night, but school officials now say there was no problem other than the faulty sensor.
