HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A financial seminar for women was held at the Log Cabin in Holyoke on Friday morning.
About 250 women attended the program, called "Heart of Money--finding your financial voice". It focused on helping women understand how they can invest in their communities by giving back in philanthropic ways.
Betsy Gaberman, former chair of the Jewish Endowment Foundation, is the brainchild of this event. She stressed how important for women to understand that they have the ability to reach out and make a difference.
“It's great to be able to deliver food, but even more important is to provide the philanthropy so that the meals will continue to be provided,” Gaberman said.
Six local organizations worked together to put this program on including: United Way of Pioneer Valley, Women's Fund of Western Massachusetts, Harold Grinspoon Foundation, Bay Path College, Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts and the Jewish Endowment Foundation. Mass Mutual was the leading sponsor.
