SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Everything is okay at Baystate Children's Hospital after firefighters responded to a strong smell of gas.

At around 6:15 Saturday night, Firefighters and Columbia gas workers were called to the hospital's natal intensive care unit.

Aide to the Fire Commission Dennis Leger told 22News they took readings inside the hospital, but they were all zero.

He said it's possible that the gas smell came from a vent leading to the outside of the building.

He said so far, the source of the smell has not been identified.

The hospital was never evacuated.
