Fireworks legal in CT, illegal in Mass.

Holyoke, Mass. (WWLP) - Crossing state lines to buy fireworks. 

It is legal to buy and sell some non-aerial Fireworks in Connecticut.

There is a tent setup this time of year, selling Fireworks in Enfield, just across the Massachusetts border.  After just a few minutes of 22News being there, a family with a Massachusetts license plate pulled up and bought some fireworks.  That is legal, it is illegal if they bring any fireworks into Massachusetts. 

"We're encouraging people not to do it, but it is hard to stop them.  It is illegal to transport them in the state of Massachusetts and to use them in the state  of Massachusetts.  Even though you can it's legal to buy them out of state", says Holyoke Fire Department Lt. Thomas Paquin.

There is a fireworks show Friday night at Holyoke Community College.  The fireworks will start at dusk, usually a little after 9pm.
