SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - As part of National HIV Testing Day , Tapestry Health brought their mobile care van to Springfield's Magazine Park, where they offered free, rapid testing for the virus that causes AIDS.
On Wednesday, Billy Smith took the test for his fourth year. In just 20 minutes, he found out that he was HIV-negative.
"Once again, Tapestry has come through. I found out where they're located, It's great timing, convenient and I popped in and popped out. I'm negative and that's what i want to be every year," Smith said.
An estimated 1,700 Springfield men and women are HIV positive.
Tapestry Health conducts testing and provides services to deal with health issues for people across western Massachusetts. They will also be offering rapid testing on Saturday night from 7:00 P.M.-11:00 P.M. at Club Xstatic, located at 240 Chestnut Street in Springfield.
