SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Hundreds of job seekers met with employers like Yankee Candle, Springfield Technical Community College and Six Flags New England Monday.

Futureworks Career Center held a career fair at the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Many companies accepted resumes and cover letters.

Job seekers told 22News they hope to see more expos like this because it's tough to find well-paying jobs in this economy.

“Jobs that used to pay $20-25 are now being offered at $10-12. It's tough to make a mortgage on that.  Maybe the casino coming in will help. I don't know. I just hope people get jobs,” Brenda Huerta said.

Daniel Pierce said, “This is a great event. I heard about it Career Point in Holyoke, and the more world it gets out to people, the better.”

Here's a tip if you're looking for a new job, always have a 60-second elevator pitch ready.

That's how you let a potential employer know you're hireable.
