LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) - Dean Lombardi has been a Ludlow hometown hero since he was a star on the Ludlow High School Hockey team during the mid 1970's.
His former Ludlow classmates and coaches are sharing in the thrills of Lombardi's Los Angeles Kings winning the Stanley Cup.
Lombardi is the Kings’ President and General Manager.
Cory Carr, who graduated from Ludlow High with Lombardi in 1976, told 22News, "He still comes back to Ludlow to see his friends and buddies from high school, what does that tell you?"
"I saw him about five years ago, and I told him to stop over for a beer, and he did."
Carr told 22News that she never doubted that Dean Lombardi would rise to the very top in his chosen field.
Lombardi is not the only part of that team with a western Massachusetts connection; prior to going pro, goalie Jonathan Quick played at UMass.
