Governor proclaims Sept. Apple month

Value of the Mass apple crop was more than $21M

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - With the beginning of apple season, the Patrick-Murray Administration has proclaimed September "Apple Month" in Massachusetts.

Farmers and state agricultural officials are anticipating an abundant apple crop this year. Last year, the value of the Massachusetts apple crop was more than $21.69 million.

Massachusetts also ranks 12th nationally for the production of apples with approximately 369 apple farms across the state.
