Valentine's preps continue at Southwick Florist

SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) - The weight of the snow that fell during the February Nor'easter was too much for the greenhouse at the Southwick Florist.

Monica Coppa told 22News, "My husband was actually driving down the road and saw it and made the call to tell us hey, your greenhouse is down."

The manager of the florist, Bob Fox, said, “It took us by surprise, we were busy digging out somewhere else we've had other snow storms where we thought were just as bad or worse but it took us by surprise."

However, the cleanup will have to wait.

Their focus is on getting ready for Valentine's Day.

Coppa explained, “It's the busiest day of the year."

"It's crazy here it takes us so long to get ready for everything," said Fox.

On top of their crushed greenhouse, the snow is creating another headache.

Drivers plan to deliver more than 100 flower arrangements on Valentines Day.

Thankfully, the greenhouse was not used to store Valentine's Day flowers or Easter lilies, it was full of mostly perennials.

The crew says they hope to have it fixed by the spring.
