WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A national grocery store chain is looking for workers to run two new stores in the Springfield area.
ALDI is holding a job fair at the Residence Inn in West Springfield on Tuesday. The food retailer is scheduled to open a store on Memorial Drive in Chicopee in October, and another store in West Springfield at a later date.
They are looking for people in all kinds of roles at the store, including cashiers (pays $11.35/hour), shift managers (pays $15.35/hour), and manager trainees (pays $23/hour). Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and have a high school diploma or a GED.
They are hoping to have selected applicants in the Chicopee store for interviews by the end of the week.
Applicant Barrington Price of Springfield says that although the job market is not ideal right now, he's got his sights set on landing a good job.
"I don't just go for any job I have to look for one that's under my personal liking and I know I can keep for a year or two instead of quitting and getting fired and not really wanting to work there anymore," Price said.
The fair runs from 7:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M., and again from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the hotel, located on Border Way (off Riverdale Street).
ALDI currently operates stores in Springfield, Hadley, and Enfield, Connecticut.
