SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A former Brimfield resident has pleaded guilty to bank fraud, after prosecutors say he lied in documents applying for a mortgage.

According to a news release sent to 22News by the U.S. Attorney’s office, 53 year-old Jeffrey Dodge entered a guilty plea to charges of bank fraud and making a false statement on a loan application.

Prosecutors say that between June and November of 2006, Dodge gave false information and false documents to Bank of America. At the time, Dodge had been applying for a government-guaranteed mortgage, and said that he had not been foreclosed upon. In reality, he had recently been foreclosed upon for failing to pay another government-backed mortgage.

Dodge could face a maximum of 30 years in prison and fines of up to $2 million. He will be sentenced on May 14 at U.S. District Court in Springfield.
