HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A student accused of making a threat that caused thousands of people to evacuate Holyoke Community College on Tuesday is being held without the right to bail.
Twenty-three year-old Cameron Faniel was arraigned in Holyoke District Court on Wednesday afternoon in connection with the incident. He was hardly visible to people in the courtroom during the arraignment, as he positioned himself behind a partition in a side room.
Faniel was arrested in Springfield on Tuesday, after state police say a young man made threats against a member of his family and the HCC campus community. Between 3,000 and 4,000 students and staff were forced to evacuate, and the college was closed for hours.
Faniel will remain held pending a dangerousness hearing on March 5.
