SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Dozens from Springfield's African American and Hispanic community gathered at the Holy Redeemer Cathedral to talk about making healthy choices in life.
All kinds of different organizations were represented. Presentations were given on drug treatment and recovery as well as HIV testing and screening.
The Program Director for the New North Citizens Council told 22News that awareness is what's important.
“I think it's important to recognize that throughout this city there are many folks trying to have a positive impact on the community in terms of the public health,” said Richard Johnson. “And making people aware of the resources that are available is really important.”
This was the 7th annual Health Awareness Night.
People told 22News they got a lot of great information.
