HOYLOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - It was a night of excitement and celebration in Holyoke as the city's St. Patrick Parade Committee selected this year's Grand Colleen.
Five talented young women we're in the running for the crown.
The coronation ball was held at the Log Cabin in Holyoke on Saturday night.
22News caught up with this year's Grand Colleen and asked her why this is such a special honor.
“Ever since I was little I used to play dressup colleen with my cousin. It was always a dream of mine to do the contest. Obviously every little girl wants the crown. It feels amazing, “Brieanna Gresh said.
Gresh told 22News she celebrates her Irish heritage not once a year, but every day.
This is 59th year that Holyoke has crowned a Grand Colleen. She'll sit atop the parade float during the Holyoke St. Patrick's Parade, which this year, will be held on St. Patrick's Day on March 17th.
