HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - The Holyoke Council on Aging will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday to celebrate the grand opening of its brand new Senior Center.

The 8.1 million dollar project began about 5 years ago.

The new building includes a fitness center, a cafe, a multi-purpose room and classrooms.

Guests at today’s ceremony will have an opportunity to learn more about different programs offered at the Senior Center.

Kathleen Bowler, Executive Director of the Holyoke Council on Aging told 22News that senior center activities promotes a healthy lifestyle among older residents of the city.

She said it's also a great place for the elderly because they will be able to socialize and relax.

The ceremony will begin at 1 P.M. at 291 Pine Street in Holyoke.
