CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Our annual Toys for Tots campaign is underway here at 22News, and the toys that have been coming in are not just those bought from a store.
Among the gifts brought-in Thursday morning were a handmade rocking horse and elephant. They are the work of Lloyd Smith of Chicopee, and will soon they'll be bringing smiles to some lucky children.
Smith told 22News what inspired him to make these presents for children in need.
“All my grandkids have a horse, definitely have a horse and elephant. That's where it started, and then other people saw them and liked them. Now, my daughters, every time they have a show, I get approached,” Smith said.
The lobby at our 22News studios is starting to fill up with toys. If you want to make a donation, toys are being accepted at the 22News Studios located at One Broadcast Center in Chicopee, MA
Toy collections hours: Mon. - Fri. 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Weekends: 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.
