Hot trend for the weekend

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Another Saturday and another day in the 90’s.

Our first heat wave of the year arrived on the first day of summer and we've been dealing with a round of major heat every week since.

Tony Morales of Springfield told 22News, "It's getting too hot out here man. Stay cool, get wet! Because it's getting ridiculous, it's getting too high...the humidity."

While the heat might not bother everyone during the day, once its time to sleep is when the temperatures bother some people the most.

"I like it cooler because when it's hot I can't really sleep. Sometimes I've had some trouble, like a few nights ago," Said Bill Carroll of Southwick.

The heat so far this summer has followed a pattern, arriving late in the week or into the weekend.

In fact the past 3 Fridays have all been in the 90’s. All part of a hot end to June and beginning of July.

Even though the past couple weeks have been on the hot side in Western Massachusetts, the month of June was actually below average in the temperature department. That's thanks to a cool start to the month and some pretty cool nights.

With heat and humidity starting off this weekend, and more very warm weather on the way for Sunday, our pattern continues. A pattern of weekend heat that doesn't upset everyone.

Armando Robustelli told 22News, "It's good for the beach, good for the park, good for my dog. Good for the kids in the park playing in the water. It's a good day today."
