PALMER, Mass. (WWLP) - Five people have no place to live after a tragic fire destroyed a home in Palmer. Fire Lt. Gerald Senecal told 22News that everyone made it out of the home safe.
The first call for the fire came in at 7:45PM Thursday. The fire was at 27 Fox Street. It's a two-story home and according to public property records, was built in 1840.
The Red Cross told 22News they are assisting the five people left homeless. One of whom has a disability.
Lt. Senecal told 22News the cause of the fire is not known. The fire marshals will be investigating.
South Main Street was blocked off for hours so firefighters could battle the blaze. It's back open for Friday morning, but Fox Street is closed.
Palmer, Monson, Three Rivers and Bondsville all contributed to fighting the fire.
