SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Spring is here, but there's plenty of snow on the ground.

22News is working for you with some tips on when you can start gardening. The Nursery Manager at Sixteen Acres Garden Center told 22News now is a great time to plot out what you want to do with your garden bed. You can even plant trees that haven't started to bud, but you may want to be careful putting too much into the ground too early.

Andy Grondalski said, “As long as you can dig a hole, you can plant. You just have to watch what you plant. If it's tender plant material that the cold is going to affect, you're going to want to hold off on that a little bit. You can start annuals and vegetables inside the house and once the threat of frost is gone you can start to put those outside.”

Grondalski told 22News as we head into April and May the chance of frost is what you really need to pay attention to before you garden.
