SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - People in downtown Springfield took a trip back in time to the 70s and 80s Saturday night, all to help feed the hungry.

The Paramount Theater hosted its first "Jam4Springfield" event.

FAT front man, Peter Newland created Jam4Springfield to celebrate the city and raise money to fight hunger, curb teen violence, and decrease the school system's dropout rate.

“I love this town. My band was born in this town. This town has always been good to me. I live her now and I intend to live here for the rest of my life. It was an opportunity to combine my passion for music with my love for this town,” Peter Newland told 22News.

22News Anchor Barry Kriger served as MC for the show.
