CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Although he officially took office last Friday, Secretary of State John Kerry was sworn-in again today.
It was a ceremonial swearing-in for Kerry with vice president Joe Biden administering the oath.
Kerry said his experience in war has shaped his understanding of the human costs of failed diplomacy.
“My journey has also taught me that when remedies are exhausted we must be prepared to defend our cause and do what is necessary to stand up to extremism, terrorism, chaos, and evil and we will continue to do so,” Said Kerry.
Kerry said he has met with his predecessors over the past week, from George Schultz and James Baker, to Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice.
