SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - One of the largest fundraisers for the Massachusetts' Special Olympics is taking place today.
It may be a little wet outside today, but that won't affect the fun that's in store today at this year's 2012 Jolly Jaunt race.
This open event will start at 10AM.
And registration has already begun at Western New England University.
Every year the Jolly Jaunt features a timed competitive 5-k race, a 1 mile fun walk and a Junior Jaunt for children 10 and under.
All of those who participate will receive jingle bells for their sneakers and admission to the holiday party after the race which will feature a hot breakfast buffet, live music, prizes and awards, as well as an inspiration program featuring Special Olympics athletes from our area.
This event is an opportunity for people to have some holiday fun while raising funds that are needed to support our local Special Olympics programs and athletes here in the Greater Springfield and Hampshire County areas.
This pledge-driven event has a minimum donation or registration fee of $35-dollars.
The race kicks off at 10AM.
