SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The final man who pled guilty to burning down a Springfield church will be sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court.
Thomas Gleason burned down the Macedonia Church of God in Christ back in 2008, just hours after Barack Obama was elected president.
Gleason, 24, Michael Jaques, 27, and Benjamin Haskell, 25 were all charged.
Prosecutors say their crimes were racially motivated.
Jacques, who has maintained his innocence but was found guilty at trial , was sentenced to 14 years in jail. Haskell, who like Gleason pleaded guilty, received nine years behind bars. Gleason pled guilty in June of 2010.
Gleason is charged with violating civil rights, intentional damage of religious property, and the use of fire to commit a federal felony. He faces 14 years in prison, but has been in jail since July.
The Macedonia Church of God in Christ has been rebuilt at it's new location on Tinkham Road.
