SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Red Cross has responded to more than 43 local emergencies since the start of their fiscal year on July 1st. Since then, they have spent double the amount they usually do to help more than 100 families in need. One local couple, Dan and Jane Roulier, have donated $10,000 to challenge others to give to the Red Cross.
"It just seems that things are not good for a lot of people here in America today, and if you can only imagine how different it would be if your house burnt to the ground with all the issues surrounding people. I feel that it's really important that the business community help some of these people," said Dan.
They have challenged businesses and individuals to raise an additional $25,000 to help the local Red Cross chapter. For more information on how you can donate click here .
