SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Patriots fans woke up to the reality that their favorite team lost for the second time in five years to the Giants.

It was a somber morning across the Baystate after a crushing blow to Patriots fans in Superbowl 46. From the front page of the Globe reminding people it's not the first time the Patriots lost a championship game against the Giants to the faces of fans heading off to work after a tough night of sports.

Carl Moses of Agawam said, “I was upset. I was hoping they were going to pull out during that last ten seconds and get that touchdown.”

It was perhaps those final seconds that were the most crushing for Patriots fans during the Superbowl Sunday night.  Even a Hail Mary pass by Tom Brady wasn't enough for a win.

“I felt down hearted but both teams showed their strength and their good sportsmanship,” said Richard Montanari of West Springfield.

As Patriots fans are forced to watch the Giants' celebration on TV over and over again, they are also reminded on the front page of paper after paper of just how heartbreaking the loss was.

However they say they have high hopes for next year, a great way of looking at a situation that certainly didn't turn out the way they were hoping.
