SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Veterans Day is a day to thank all those men and women who are serving and have served our country.

Thanking those for all their sacrifices, those who have served, who are serving and will serve.

For 92 year old Millie Dunbar, a World War II Veteran, this day is very special.

“This means just everything to me, that's why I'm here, to recognize, appreciate those who are participating now and what pleases me greatly and of course I support it, is when you see our young high school children all marching together,” World War II Veteran Millie Dunbar said.

Hundreds marched through downtown Springfield.

One of those marching was Eugene Brice's son who is in the ROTC program at Central High School.

It's a point of pride for Brice who is a veteran himself.

“I was in the at program too back in the day so I know what that's all about, I'm familiar with it so I am proud of him for doing that,” Jeff Croteau said.

And it's on this day that others can honor veterans for their service and also honor each other as well.

“There's a camaraderie, when you see all the guys you don’t' see all year long. That's why they come out to the parade and you know we get together, after this we'll get together a couple places, we'll sit down talk about old times. Have a few laughs, shed a few tears, tomorrow will be another day,” said Eugene Brice.

But on every November 11th it's their day.
