LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - Students in Longmeadow Thursday night used their creative talents to feed the hungry.
It's called the Empty Bowls Dinner . Eighty high school students have been working on creating bowls in art class.
Thursday night the bowls were sold for 15 dollars each, which will go toward organizations like Rachel's Table to feed the hungry.
Then guests shared a simple meal together.
Michelle George, a junior, told 22News, “You could consider it kind of the bowl of soup or the small portion of food certain people in the country get each day.”
According to Mary Kate Grow, a junior, “It’s something that a lot of times we don't think about because we have enough food on our tables. I think it's something really important we should think about more often.“
Empty Bowls is a grassroots movement designed by artists and teachers to combat hunger.
These Longmeadow students began working on their bowls back in September.
