CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - State taxpayers will most likely be footing the bill for Governor Patrick's multi-billion dollar transportation improvement plan.

It's going to cost Massachusetts roughly $13 billion over the next ten years to improve and maintain the state's transportation network; and you may soon have to help pay for it.

Governor Patrick announced a wide a range options that could help the MassDOT raise money for the improvements--which involve our streets, highways, bridges and public transit.

  • Option #1: Raise gas taxes from 21 cents to 30 cents.
  • Option #2: Increase income taxes to 5.66%.
  • Option #3: Raise the state sales tax from 6.25% to 7.75%.

The Governor said he plans to discuss these options further during his "State of the State" address in Boston, Wednesday.
