SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A major arsenal of weapons was seized from a Springfield home in a raid on Wednesday night.
Springfield police Sergeant John Delaney told 22News that around 6:30 P.M., officers raided the home at 117 Sherwood Road in Sixteen Acres, where they found ten weapons, as well as more than 2,300 rounds of various ammunition hidden in a closet.
The weapons seized in the raid were:
Timothy Oswald (a.k.a. Luigi Castagnetta) 28, of 117 Sherwood Road, was arrested on several weapons charges. Delaney says he was found in his car along with a .32 caliber handgun, brass knuckles, and a switch blade.
Akeem Castro, 20, of 18 Leyfred Terrace, was with Oswald at the time, and was also arrested and charged with possession of a firearm.
Both suspects were arraigned in Springfield District Court on Thursday.
Delaney says that detectives received a search warrant for the home after receiving information that Oswald was storing numerous firearms improperly inside his rented room.
Oswald is being held on one million dollars bail.
