Man shot in both legs in East Springfield

Victim's girlfriend brought him to the hospital

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield police detectives are trying to determine what led to a man being shot in both legs Friday night.

Springfield Police Lt. Rupert Daniel told 22News the victim was brought to Baystate Medical Center by his girlfriend at about 6:45 pm Friday.

Lt Daniel said the victim told police he was walking on Saint James Avenue in East Springfield when he was approached by two men.  He said they ordered him to not move, and he ran, at which point he was shot.

After the shooting, he got in his girlfriend's car, and she drove him to the hospital.

The victim, a  32-year-old Springfield man, is expected to survive his wounds.
