WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A man who is accused of beating a woman with a live snake has turned himself in to West Springfield police.

Captain Dan Spaulding told 22News that Keith Paro, 34 allegedly removed a pet python from a cage during an argument with his girlfriend, struck her repeatedly with the snake, and then threw the animal into a hot tub where it died.

Police had been looking for Paro following the alleged attack, but Spaulding says the suspect has since turned himself in to police.

Paro faces domestic assault and animal cruelty charges for the attack, in addition to charges for larceny and malicious damage for allegedly breaking some items and stealing from the Morton Street home where the alleged incident happened.
