Mass. Gaming Commission close to hiring executive director

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Massachusetts Gaming Commission may finally be on the verge of hiring an executive director.

The Commission plans to interview Rick Day during its weekly meeting Thursday. He's currently executive director of the Washington State Gambling Commission.

The agency hasn't had an executive director since it began operations last March.

In May, Carl McGee declined an offer to serve as the acting executive director, citing the distraction from an allegation that he sexually assaulted a 15-year-old boy in Florida in 2007.  Criminal charges in that case were dropped.
