SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A big boost Wednesday to help Springfield's continued tornado recovery. MassMutual made a 1.6 million dollar contribution to the city's rebuilding efforts.
The announcement was made at a Community Rebuilding Fair Wednesday night at the High School of Commerce. Twenty local non-profits and community services set up at the Rebuilding Fair to provide information to residents.
MassMutual President and CEO Roger Crandall hopes the grant will assist long-term development projects. "Using this money to help us establish a master plan so we'll know what we're doing not just over the next six months, but over the next six years and even sixteen years, and that will be very good for the city."
MassMutual chose the 1.6 million dollar amount to pay tribute to their 160th anniversary this year.
