CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Vice President Joe Biden is reaching out to gun-safety groups and victims organizations across the country.
One of those coalitions is 'Mayors for Gun Safety.' Chicopee Mayor Michael Bissonnette told 22News they support the second amendment right to bear and carry arms, but high magazine content for semi-automatic weapons has created chaos.
According to Mayor Bissonnette, “The access to these weapons is not something the framers of the constitution ever envisioned and it's not something the people of America can tolerate much longer.”
Mayor Bissonnette will be in Washington next Thursday to meet with the Vice President. He told 22News they have an obligation to Americans to make the country safer, perhaps by finding the intersection of mental health and gun safety.
