SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - MGM resorts presented Springfield's South End Community Center with a check for $50,000 on Thursday. MGM has been spending big money in Springfield between ads and donations.
22News wanted to find out if you thought MGM was trying to use its money to influence potential votes in a casino referendum.
Marty Rzeznik said, “I think it's good, it's helping Springfield.”
“I think it's a good thing that the city gets the money, we need it and it helps the poor people and everybody, they're trying to do the right thing.” said Thomas Liquori.
MGM is not guaranteed a Western Massachusetts gaming license. The Massachusetts gaming commission has final say on that license.
