MGM meets with Old Hill residents

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - If MGM wins the gaming license, they plan to build in Springfield’s South End. Thursday night they met with some of their potential neighbors to discuss the project.

Representatives from MGM visited the Old Hill Neighborhood Council to answer questions from residents and also to explain their entertainment brand. Old Hill residents were eager to learn more about the massive project, and how many people might be hired to work there.

Council member Ethel Griffin told 22News, “We just don't want jobs like janitor jobs. We want jobs in administration, because there are people here with degrees who are unemployed, and that's how we can build up our community, with people having decent jobs.”

MGM has plans to build in the city's South End, between Main and Columbus and State and Union Streets. Next month MGM, Ameristar and Penn National will each present their plans at the same time and place in Springfield.
