BRIMFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - MGM Resorts is announcing that they are trying to get Brimfield residents to voice their approval for the company’s proposed casino in town.

MGM announced Thursday that they have filed a petition to put a non-binding question regarding the proposed Rolling Hills Resort onto the 2012 Town Meeting Warrant.

According to an MGM news release sent to 22News, the company is just trying to gage public opinion on the proposal, as such a non-binding question is not required under the state’s gambling law.

The Rolling Hills site is a 150 acre plot of land in Brimfield’s northwest corner, just north of the Massachusetts Turnpike and near the Palmer and Warren town lines.

The state’s new gambling law allows for three resort-style casinos, with one of those three to be located within either Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, or Hampshire Counties. In addition to MGM’s Brimfield proposal, there are other proposed casino sites in Holyoke, Palmer, and Springfield.
