HAMPDEN, Mass. (wwlp) - Hampden Police Chief Jeff Farnsworth told 22News "I think we have this bank robbery solved."
Chief Farnsworth said a man in a car pointed a gun at a drive up teller through the glass at the Somers Road Monson Savings Bank branch a little before 7:00 p.m. Monday night. The robber took some money from the cash drawer and drove away.
Chief Farnsworth told 22News a bank employee recognized the car, an older model red Mercury marquis, and police went to a house in Monson where they found the car with a semi-automatic pistol on the front seat.
The suspect was nowhere to be found, but Chief Farnsworth said he expects his officers will make an arrest soon.
