SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Crowds of mourners are gathering to remember a 12 year-old boy who drowned more than a week ago in a Springfield middle school swimming pool.
Calling hours are being held Tuesday morning for Marlon Brown , who drowned February 15 in the Kiley Middle School pool during gym class. People gathered inside and outside the Wesley United Methodist Church on State Street to pay their final respects. Brown’s funeral will follow at 11:30 A.M.
The Hampden County District Attorney’s Office is investigating Brown’s death, and the School Department has also launched an independent investigation. In the meantime, all pool-related activities in Springfield schools have been cancelled.
