WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Springfield branch of the NAACP wants to meet with Hard Rock Casinos and West Springfield's mayor.

NAACP President, Reverend Talbert Swan said they want to make sure there's a fair representation of citizens of color in any casino-related employment opportunities. Swan said they have already met with the two developers in Springfield.

He wants the host agreement in any community to include minorities in any construction or permanent jobs.

“Often when jobs of this caliber are done, very little of the opportunities are given to communities of color and that's a concern of ours,” said Swan.

Swan said he has not heard back from the mayor or Hard Rock yet but expects to by the end of the week.
