Neighborhood council meets with casino representatives

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The McKnight Neighborhood Council wants to know how their community would be directly impacted by a proposed casino in Springfield.
Representatives from Penn National and MGM met with the council Tuesday night at the Rebecca Johnson School.
Council President Walter Kroll told 22News the council wants specific answers to questions about how the proposed projects would impact traffic, historic buildings and crime.
“I think everyone is kind of seeing the presentations, the glitz and the glamour and selling the concept of a casino so what we wanted to do what have a conversation, not a presentation about how this was going to impact us,” Walter Kroll, President of the McKnight Neighborhood Council
Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno announced Monday that the city will negotiate a host agreement with both MGM and Penn National.
The state gaming commission will have the final say as to who will receive the casino license.
